December 7, 2016 at 6:50 The avalanche danger is MODERATE above 5000 feet. Heightened avalanche conditions exist and human triggered avalanches are possible due to freshly formed wind slabs and weak layers buried deeper in the snowpack. Carefully evaluate wind loaded areas, especially at upper elevations, before committing to any slope. Dig into the snow to assess deeper weak layers, and choose conservative terrain where these weak layers exist.

December 6, 2016 at 5:30 The avalanche danger is MODERATE above 5000 feet. Human triggered avalanches are possible. Abundant recent snow and wind formed slabs on mid to upper elevation leeward slopes. Continue to carefully evaluate wind loaded areas before committing to any slope. Also, keep in mind that the recent storm loaded variable old snow surfaces including crusts, facets, and surface hoar. Dig into the snow to assess these layers, and choose conservative terrain where they are present.

December 5, 2016 at 6:42 Natural and human triggered avalanches have occurred over the past 24 hours. Windy conditions have loaded upper elevation leeward terrain while recent snow has fallen on a variety of surfaces including sun crusts, surface hoar, and facets. The danger today is CONSIDERABLE above 6000'. Cautious route finding and conservative decision making is essential. As the day progresses northerly winds will load atypical terrain features. Carefully evaluate any slope you plan to recreate on. |

December 4, 2016 at 7:35 A potent storm moved into our area this morning with windy conditions and potentially moderate to heavy snow. The avalanche danger will increase throughout the day particularly on upper elevation wind loaded terrain. This snow is accumulating on a variety of surfaces including sun crusts, surface hoar, and facets. Carefully evaluate any slope you plan to recreate on. We will provide general avalanche information, and begin issuing daily advisories with hazard ratings once we have enough information. |

November 29, 2016 at 6:24 Don't let the recent dry sunny weather and overall thin snow pack lull you into complacency. Above 6000 feet there is sufficient snow for an avalanche to occur and recent winds have been strong enough to transport snow and form wind slabs in favored locations. Look for obvious signs of instability such as shooting cracks, whumpfing or hollow sounds. Carefully evaluate all slopes before recreating on any slope. We will continue to update information without hazard ratings as conditions warrant. |

November 26, 2016 at 7:24 Recent snow combined with wind continues to load upper elevation leeward aspects. Look for obvious signs of instability such as shooting cracks, whumpfing or hollow sounds. Due to the lack of early season observations carefully evaluate all slopes before recreating on any slope. Remember that if there is enough snow to ski or ride, then there is enough snow to avalanche. We will continue to update information without hazard ratings as conditions warrant until we receive/collect more snowpack data. |
