Mark Dundas
Avalanche Specialist

Mark Dundas has been forecasting for the FAC team since 2015 and has worked as Lead Forecaster since 2021. Mark has over 20 years of snow safety and avalanche forecasting experience. This experience includes days lamenting over depth hoar at Berthoud Pass in Colorado as a guide and ski patroller to his time in Montana as a professional patroller for Whitefish Mountain Resort, a forecaster for Burlington Northern Sante Fe in Essex, MT, and the National Park Service with the Going-to-the-Sun Road avalanche program in Glacier NP. Mark has also been an avalanche educator for 24 years and is a professional member of the AAA. In the summer, Mark trades his skis for a beloved pick mattock as a trail crew supervisor in Glacier National Park where he has been working since 1995. 
Cameron Johnson
Avalanche Specialist

Cam Johnson began forecasting for the Flathead Avalanche Center in 2019, after migrating north from the central Wasatch Mountains of Utah. While in the Wasatch, he worked for eight years in different facets of ski patrol programs. He worked the last three years as an Avalanche Mitigation Technician for Solitude Mountain Resort, where he tended to their complex avalanche terrain. During this time he was an active member with Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, and received “The Stone Award” for his excellence and dedication in mountain rescue. He has a Professional Level 2 avalanche certification, a Wilderness EMT certification, attended the National Avalanche School, and is a professional member of the American Avalanche Association. Cam has taught recreational and professional avalanche courses for the American Avalanche Institute and The Patrol Fund. When not traveling in the mountains on skis or snowmobile, Cam is entertaining his newborn daughter while his wife goes out to ski. 
Meg Killen
Education Coordinator

Meg Killen has called Montana home for almost 25 years, and has been exploring the backcountry on skis for 15 of those. As she developed her own avalanche education, she became invested in teaching others. She joined the FOFAC team in 2019 as the youth educator, and has since stepped into the role of Education Director in 2021. She enjoys bringing avalanche education to this community whether it be teaching kiddos or adults. Meg has her level 2 Avalanche Certification and will be working towards her Pro Level 1 this winter. Outside of her role teaching courses, you can typically find Meg backcountry skiing with her husband Tim and working on her mediocre snowmobiling skills. In the off season, you can find her in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, where she has worked for over 15 years leading volunteer trail work trips for the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation.  
Clare Menzel
Education Coordinator

Clare Menzel is the Communications Manager for Flathead Avalanche. She moved to Northwest Montana in 2015, and after contributing to the Flathead Beacon as a staff reporter, she drifted into freelance journalism so she could be in the mountains more. During her seven years writing for magazines, she had the opportunity to profile celebrities like Dan’l Moore as well as nobodies like Lindsey Vonn. She joined the FOFAC team in fall 2021. As Flathead Avalanche’s #1 friend, Clare’s job is to tell everyone about all the amazing things the rest of the staff is getting up to. She loves creating clear and engaging messaging for our products and programs. In May 2022, Clare earned a MA in history and philosophy at Montana State University with a thesis about the ethical knowledge and cultural identity that Dolores LaChapelle created in relationship with snow and avalanches.
Rob Millspaugh
Avalanche Specialist

Rob Millspaugh, FAC’s stalwart intern for the 2019-2020 winter, joined the forecast team for the 2022-23 winter.. His backcountry career also includes stints as a snowmobile guide, rare carnivore tracker, and state forester. Rob has an Avalanche Operations Level 1 certification from the Canadian Avalanche Association and a degree in environmental engineering. Outside of winter, Rob works as an instructor and technician with the Whitewater Rescue Institute. His interests include swimming in rivers, wrestling dogs, cussing at machines, and making “circle-foods." 
Blase Reardon
Director, Avalanche Specialist

Blase Reardon has explored snowpacks across the world, from golf courses in Ohio to remote mountains in Kyrgyzstan. Early in his career, Blase researched climate change and glaciers for the USGS and worked as a forecaster for the Going-to-the-Sun Road avalanche program in Glacier National Park. He then worked as a forecaster in central Idaho for the Sawtooth Avalanche Center and in central Colorado for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. He has served on the faculty of Colorado Mountain College's innovative Avalanche Science Program, as Editor of The Avalanche Review and The Snowy Torrents, and as Publications Trustee for the American Avalanche Association. He joined the FAC team as Lead Forecaster for the 2018-19 winter, then stepped up as Director in 2020.
Emily Struss
Education Coordinator

Emily Struss started working as the Executive Director for the Friends of the Flathead Avalanche Center in 2019. Though she hails from Michigan, Emily has spent most of the last 15 years in Western Montana. A University of Montana graduate and NOLS alum, Emily joins us from the National Forest Foundation where she worked leading fundraising events, workshops, and a youth corps program. While she loved working for a nationally-scaled nonprofit, she is excited about the opportunity to focus on supporting the community she now lives in. She started as EEmily and her husband and two kiddos are new to the area from Missoula and have been enjoying exploring their new backyard over the last few months. When ski season is over, you can find Emily in her kayak, on her bike, or baking treats with her kiddos. 
Sarah Williams
Avalanche Specialist

Bozeman-born Sarah Williams started skiing at Bridger Bowl when she was 2 years old. Sarah has a Professional Level 1 and is a professional member of the American Avalanche Association. Sarah’s experience includes working as an intern for FAC during the 2020-21 season, ski patrolling at Moonlight Basin, working on ski performance research, stints at learning how to guide ski mountaineering trips in Alaska, and lots of expert-level bushwacking. Sarah has been working on staying out of school after completing a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and a Master of Science in Physiology. In the summer, she works as a Park Ranger and WEMT in Glacier National Park. Sarah joins the FAC team as a forecaster for the 2022-2023 season.

Guy Zoellner
Professional Observer

Guy Zoellner has supported the FAC forecasters as a professional observer, snowmobile wrangler, and general do-it-all since 2014. He has taken a Level 2 avalanche course and has been traveling in the backcountry for almost 20 years, specifically in northwest Montana, where he was born and raised. Guy works as the Trails Manager out of Big Prairie in the Bob Marshall Wilderness for the Flathead National Forest in the summer.
