Yesterday's winds formed thin slabs on top of a crust at upper elevations. The snowpack is generally stable on slopes that have not been wind loaded and at lower elevations. Evaluate leeward terrain before committing to a slope.

Instabilities within recently formed thin wind slabs exist at upper elevations. Wind and snow will add thickness to these slabs today. Generally, safe conditions exist in areas without wind loading.  Evaluate all wind-loaded slopes especially in the alpine terrain. Surface cracking is a tell-tale sign of a slab.

Rain, snow, and wind could make triggering an avalanche in the upper layers of snow possible today. Storm instabilities may exist from new snow falling on a variety of surfaces. Watch for surface cracks and steer around lens-shaped drifts on leeward slopes and steep, convex terrain.

Shady aspects harboring dry snow will be vulnerable to loose wet avalanches today from rain on snow. If rain occurs at upper elevations, the danger there could rise to MODERATE. Rollerballs and pinwheels are initial signs of instability. Use caution around terrain traps and gullies.

Over a foot of new snow will destabilize quickly if the sun makes a strong appearance.  Anticipate large loose wet avalanches to release naturally on steep, sunny slopes.  Monitor for fresh storm instabilities on all aspects.
