March 29, 2017 at 7:00 Recently formed wind slabs will be slow to strengthen due to the smooth crust (sliding surface) they were formed on. A few inches of snow and continued wind today will thicken these slabs. The avalanche danger is MODERATE above 6000 feet. Carefully evaluate wind loaded terrain before committing to a slope. Below 6000 feet the danger is LOW, but will rise if we get rain to assist in breaking down the surface crust. |

March 28, 2017 at 7:00 Wind slabs on top of a surface crust are still growing from snow and moderate winds yesterday. These slabs will continue to form through the day. The avalanche danger is MODERATE above 6000' on wind loaded terrain and LOW below 6000' where we can find a loose wet avalanche problem. Be wary if the sun makes an appearance today as it can rapidly warm the surface snow increasing the instability. |

March 27, 2017 at 6:58 Overnight snow, combined with wind, has formed fresh wind slabs on top of a surface crust. These slabs will continue to form through the day with expected light precipitation and continued wind. Lingering instabilities remain with the wind slabs formed earlier in the weekend. The avalanche danger is MODERATE above 6000' on wind loaded terrain and LOW below 6000' where rain and a moist snow surface have resulted in a loose wet avalanche problem. |

March 26, 2017 at 6:33 Moderate to strong winds over the past 36 hours formed fresh wind slabs at upper elevations. In locations these slabs were deposited onto a crust and all wind loaded terrain should be evaluated before committing to a slope. Periods of sun today will weaken the snow surface on sunny aspects creating a loose wet avalanche problem. The avalanche danger is MODERATE above 6000' on wind loaded terrain and the danger will rise to MODERATE on sunny aspects above 5000'. |

March 25, 2017 at 6:43 Light snow, accompanied by wind, has created thin wind slabs in exposed upper elevation locations. These slabs were potentially deposited onto a crust and all wind loaded terrain should be evaluated before committing to a slope. At mid and low elevations light rain and above freezing temperatures have kept the surface snow moist and therefore a loose wet avalanche problem remains. The avalanche danger is LOW and safe travel techniques should be practiced. |

March 24, 2017 at 7:00 The cold temperatures and clear skies overnight formed a firm snow surface. The morning sun will have a tough time breaking down this crust before the clouds roll in. The avalanche danger is LOW this morning, but warming temperatures and light rain in the afternoon will elevate the danger to MODERATE at low and mid elevations. Pay attention to signs of a weakening snow surface like roller balls forming on steep slopes, and of course, rain on the snow. |

March 23, 2017 at 7:00 Cool temperatures overnight re-froze and strengthened the moist surface snow. The avalanche danger is LOW this morning, but will rise to MODERATE on sun exposed slopes above 5000 feet today. Move to a shaded area when you see the early signs of weakening surface snow like rollerballs or pinwheels forming on steep slopes. Remember that LOW danger does not mean no danger. Continue to make site specific snow pack and terrain evaluations as isolated areas of unstable snow exist. |

March 22, 2017 at 7:00 The avalanche danger is Moderate at all elevations today. Rainfall and the lack of a strong refreeze last night lead to weakening surface snow and create the potential for triggering a loose, wet avalanche. Be aware of surface snow strength continuing to deteriorate as temperatures warm. |

March 21, 2017 at 6:57 The avalanche danger is LOW at all elevations today, but will increase this evening. Despite cloud cover today, rising temperatures and a bit of rain this evening will create the potential for triggering a loose, wet avalanche. Be aware of changing conditions today. Expect the avalanche danger to rise rapidly this evening into tonight as rain moves into the area. LOW danger does not mean no danger. Practice appropriate avalanche travel techniques. |

March 20, 2017 at 6:41 Cool temperatures overnight currently "locked up" the snowpack at all elevations and on all aspects. The avalanche danger is LOW at all elevations this morning but the danger may rise on sunny aspects as temperatures warm and the sun breaks down the surface crust. Pay attention to changing conditions at the snow surface and move to a different aspect, or end your day early, before your skis or machine start to punch through the surface crust. |

March 19, 2017 at 6:41 Yesterday's substantial rainfall and warm temperatures resulted in an elevated avalanche danger today. The avalanche danger is MODERATE at all elevations due to a saturated snow surface at low and mid elevations and a weakening of cornices in the upper elevations. Pay attention to changing conditions at the snow surface and below the surface where free water is percolating through the snow pack. |
