these obs were made during an Avy 1 class at GNPG yurt.  several pits and obs made thru out weekend.  will talk specifically of Sun.

awoke to 24cm of fresh snow, on top of 8-10cm from Sat.  overcast, quit snowing.  toured up to 6400'.  did pits on N and S aspects  30-33'slopes

N aspect 30'slope  135cm snow depth  + 31cm storm snow over crust

most notable was CT12 scores with planar resistance above last weeks rain crust 108cm from ground, similar results in all pits and aspects

crust 103-93cm above ground

ECT failed cleanly on during isolation on facets below crust at 93cm from ground

CT18 sudden planar Q1 below the crust 93cm from ground, facets on underside of ice crust- failed on Rutchblock RB3 quite impressively-taking crust and storm snow with it

another crust layer 44-54cm from ground with rounding 1F between crust layers,  failed at CT26 rough break, at 73cm- between crusts

decomposing and rounding below this crust to 6cm.

bottom 6cm depth hoar

after the RB3 everyone decided to ski conservatively, avoid convexities and kept to slopes 30' or less.  enjoyed some fine powder
