Today we started our ride in Lost Johnny, dropped into Wounded Buck drainage, over to Lid Creek, Strawberry Lake and rode to the border where the boundary sings for Wildcat starts. The snow was awesome, 1.5 feet of fresh. Day started out chilly and snow was a bit hard breaking around track instead of fluffing on certain facing slopes. As the day progressed the sun softened the snow and in the higher elevations the snow was light powder.

Checked out snowpack throughout the day and found no obvious signs of instability. We observed small loose wet avalanches in some of the bigger upper bowls we got into. But none of them ran very far. Lots of little roller balls noted and knocked off while side hilling.

We were very cautious and aware of terrain choice around 12 (the advisory was at moderate this morning and could possibly climb higher as the sun came out) when the snow softened. Our group was all snowbikes and there were 8 of us.
