Spent last week outside of the advisory area (South) in the Swan Range. Camped at Pyramid Lake from 02/09-12. Toured to Crimson, Leota, Marshall, and Pyramid Peaks.

Sky weather was mostly clear with increasing clouds later in the week as a low pressure band moved in. Temps dropped well below freezing during the night, but rapidly warmed to above freezing during the afternoon. Winds were benign and calm during the day, increasing with the onslaught of low pressure bands moving in from the SW (Thursday/Friday).

Observed surface hoar growing on shaded aspects (N/NE). Roller balls and pinwheels were prevalant on South and West aspects; small, point-release wet loose sluffs followed, occuring near rock outcroppings. Found good skiing on N and E aspects (8500'-7000'), protected from sun/wind.

As moisture moved in, we experienced rain @ 7000ft on Friday morning (02/12); above this--wet, heavy snow. Very difficult skiing conditions on descent (deep ski penetration).
