More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Thin breakable rain crust at low elevations transitioned into a thicker/stout breakable rain crust at mid elevations.  We shortened our tour to minimize exposure to hazardous skiing conditions.

North facing pit at 5800'

HS - 180 cm                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

-The snow surface consisted of a 3 cm knife hard rain crust.                                                                                                                                                      

-Below this was 54 cm of new snow (4F- to 1F- hardness) that sat upon the January 12 rain crust.                                                                                            

-The January 17 rain crust was not present in this location.

Stability tests :

ECTP1 @ 6 cm
