We traveled up into the northern Whitefish Range today. We toured up a heavily treed, mellow slope to access higher ground. Tag team was back again, with whoomphing being our primary red flag for the day. Up high, wind slabs had formed in a scattered, random fashion with some styrofoam like slabs forming up to 4" thick. We dug a pit around 6000' on a rather open southwesterly aspect. Our CT collapsed on 13 and again at 23. Also had ECTP13 and again @30 (on two different crusts with some rounding facets on each). I can't tell you more specifics because it was too cold for pencils or pictures. Noted a few, small crowns across the drainage on Northeast facing slopes. The skiing (which we enjoyed on mellow slopes for obvious reasons) was amazing (cold smoke) except in a few places where it wasn't (wind slabs).
