While the waters may be calm at the surface, there is a frenzy of activity below.

Moseyed around wind protected, mid-elevation terrain in the Southern Whitefish Range. Several large collapses were clear signs to keep our slope angles in check.

• ~6" - 8" of top-heavy, dense snow overnight formed soft storm slabs.  We could easily produce cracks that radiated about 3' or 4' from our skis but small test slopes didn't produce any noteworthy results.   
• We got two large collapses, one on a flat slope and one on a southerly aspect.  The latter was on facets below the Nov 19th crust, about 3 feet deep.  Propagating pit results on the same layer further demonstrated the ongoing persistent slab issues.  
• Light graupel fell through the day, with light winds. Not much accumulation after 10 a.m.
• WMR Ski Patrol reported several storm slabs triggered by single hand shots, which were notably wide and far running for their relatively thin slab size, ~D1.5 in size.  We had limited views of backcountry avalanche terrain because of fog.
