Werner Peak Snowpack Observation

Skiied ~25 degree open glades slightly south and below the Werner Peak summit/lookout.

Snow pit observation on Werner Peak at:

• 6,600 ft
• W aspect
• 20 degree slope angle

Weather:

• temperature around 20-25F
• mostly overcast with patches of dense fog and periods of sun

Results:

• Total snow depth 105cm
• ECTN24 down 25cm on small facets on top of a sun crust
• CT21 on the same layer in a second test
• Couldn't get any reaction on the knife hard crust near ground level and the snowpack on top of that crust appears to be well bonded
• approximately 4" of fluff on top of a hard and slick layer (probably the Christmas Eve crust)

While not epic powder conditions by any stretch, the skiing was still quite fun!
