Quick Observation

No new snow here and no wind transport made for generally stable conditions. We skied steep terrain with no instabilities.
Along a cross loaded ridgeline, we produced shallow cracking in wind thickened snow, up to 4” thick, remnants of last week’s wind event. These drifts were isolated to the ridge and didn’t reach into adjacent gullies or slopes.
Snow surfaces are soft on all aspects up to 7200’, consisting of settled powder, faceted powder, or a thin layer of stellar dendrites that fell last night. No avalanche activity from last storm larger than D2 or deeper than storm instabilities.

6” to 30” of settled storm snow appears to be well bonded to the 2/14 interface. Depth depends on wind affect or previous avalanches. Below 6,000’, it is on the rounding faceted rain crust. Above 6,000’, it is on firm wind board. The current snow surface appears most faceted on wind sheltered southerly aspects.
