Stable and another beautiful day.

Today we toured to the Northern Whitefish Range to look for surface hoar and document surface conditions ahead of this week’s expected snowfall.

• There was a trace to nil amount of new snow overnight which made it easy to track surfaces visually. 
• Similar to yesterday’s tour in the Middle Fork, we found melt freeze grains on W, S, and E aspects, and a mix of wind board and small near surface facets (<1mm) on northerlies. We did not find any surface hoar. 
• There were a handful of loose wet avalanches from earlier in the week, but nothing that looked recent.
• We tested very steep slopes on all aspects and saw no signs of instability today. We skied steep terrain and triggered a few very shallow loose dry sluffs on north aspects.
