Went for a great tour out of Marion today. Skied on southerly aspects to stay in the sun.
-10 when I pulled into the Issak Walton, but the sun warmed things up to a comfortable temperature when I was on the tour.
There was a little bit of surface hoar formation, but not much (shown in the picture). I wouldn't be surprised to see some surface hoar tomorrow morning with clear cold skies tonight.
Minimal wind effect below 6500', but the wind-scoured texture was visible in upper elevations. The thickest wind loading I found was 4'' and was just off of a ridge.
The sun crust underneath the storm snow is faceting and is much weaker now than it was 2 days ago.
