Was surprised to head into the Middle Fork and find steady snowfall until about 2 pm today- not necessarily the clearing that we had hoped for, but maybe better?! Winds blew consistently light-moderate out of the West all day, with gusts in the moderate-strong range. We spent the day on a West facing aspect, and with 6-8 inches of new snow on a stout surface, there was ample available for transport. This led to some cracking and minor wind slabs popping out up high (above 6,500'), which were only about 4 inches deep where we found them. All in all, some great skiing to be had and a definite return to winter up high. Down low.. not so much. Snow below 5,000' or so was moist by the end of the day, despite the sun not coming out at all.
