Went for a nice tour in the whitefish resort side country today.
Didn't notice any signs of instability. Did see signs of previous wind loading, but didn't experience any shooting cracks in wind loaded areas.
Dug a pit at 6400' on an eastern aspect and noticed the layer 40 cms down and the crust layer 100 cms down (obvious in the picture).
Got a ct17 with good shear quality on the layer 40 cms down, but got no propagation in the ect.
There was some faceting occurring around the crust (100 cms down), but got no results in any of the tests.
Good surface conditions today if you avoided the wind effected slopes!
