Today we went into the Swan Range to get a baseline assessment on the snowpack. We found isothermic, punchy snow at low and mid-elevations. At upper elevations, we found a stable, slightly deeper snowpack.
Today the main hazard was not an avalanche hazard, it was trying to maneuver our planks over the breakable crust and isothermic/unsupportable snow. It was by no means a graceful descent.

We noticed two D2 size wet loose near each other on SE facing gullies. Both appeared to have gouged to bare rock mid-track. Other areas predominately went through a widespread rollerball cycle.
