Sluffs in the wind

I took advantage of a bluebird day to suss out conditions following the recent arctic intrusion.

• 25 - 30 loose dry sluffs noted on the southeast and northerly aspects at mid-elevations. Most of these occurred during the storm and split between D1 and D1.5 with 2 D2. The longest-running of these was ~800'.
• A half dozen thin D1 wind slabs at mid-elevation southeast and northerly slopes. 2 wider and thicker slides classified D2.
• Strong solar input did not initiate a loose avalanche cycle.
• NE winds raked the face of Nyack Mt but did little damage throughout the rest of the basin.
• Skiing was superb with up to 10" of dry snow on top of a supportable crust.
