Toured Skook today. After a safe run on the skiers left shoulder, we wanted steeper terrain because the snow was slow to turn in terrain less than 25 degrees. The top 1/3 of Skook was suprisingly wind affected. It could have been a previous wind event, but the drifts getting onto Skook face were pretty hilrious to nagivate. Dug a SE facing pit at 6,600' and got full propoation with hard force on the New Year's eve crust layers (ECTP28). The storm slab partially propogated but is so fluffy, it wasn't a slab yet. We felt comfortable skiing other laps on the steeper sections of Skook. Slough management was the name of the game on steep slopes greater than 35 degrees. Some sloughs traveled far and would definitely take you for a ride. Winds were on and off. At times it was calm on the ridge at other times our skin track was completely drifted in.
