Toured up Skookoleel today and found some fabulous powder snow skiing there and beyond. At 11:30 am, we dug a pit at 6873 feet on a North aspect approximately 50 yards West of the summit and 25 yards North of the ridge on a 31 degree slope. ECTN16 at 30cm, ECTN28 at 40cm. 300cm snowpack, 115cm pit. Partly sunny, calm winds. We skied this slope and estimated maximum slope angles of 35 to 39 degrees with no signs in instability. Then we toured across the valley and up to 6700 feet, almost to Locklaho (sp?). From there we skied a SE aspect estimated at 30 degrees with no signs of instability. Curses on the winds in the near term forecast.
