Toured from the Fielding Trailhead to Sheep Mountain today. It was cold and clear, with light winds.
Signs of wind-transported snow were present at all elevations. SW aspects were loaded by recent winds, and S -> NE aspects were scoured. At higher elevations, all aspects were generally scoured. Most snow was either dry/loose or very firm.
We found some thin wind slabs (2 - 3 in. thick) on SW aspects close to open ridgelines. These were most prevalent from 6000 - 7500 ft ASL. Some cracking was evident, but little to no shooting cracks and no collapsing. One small wind slab (5 in. thick, 15 ft wide) was intentionally triggered on a steep rollover.
No recent avalanches were observed despite excellent visibility. We suspected a few glide cracks in very steep, east-facing terrain above Park Creek.
