Headed up to Jewel Basin yesterday in search of low angle options. Wind had done a number on the fresh snow in the low angle slopes to the East above Camp Misery; folks from the yurt remarked that the surface snow was far more stable and jumping on the convexities of several test slopes bore this out. Headed to the Checkerboard next; no collapses/cracking witnessed and our pit at 6300ft on a NW aspect (HS 210cm) found 80cm of new snow above the Jan 13 crust. Test results were unremarkable; no propagation or shearing noted.
Also, the road in is getting pretty rough, so if you're planning to sled in, be prepared to let'r buck.
