Dug a pit on Patrol Ridge E facing at 6800’ and got full propagation at 13 taps on a very well preserved layer of surface hoar that’s capped by graupel. Surface is Q1 and the entire block came off with energy into my lap. Winds previously reported in skyland did not affect the east facing aspects. Another test on a similar aspect and elevation produced a release w easy taps (ECTP10). One at 6100 failed with hard force (ECTP22). All slid on the well-preserved surface hoar about 40 cm bekow the surface.
In second photo you can see the panes of glass left over on the sliding surface!
Also, new surface hoar is growing tall on most aspect, especially on ridge. Winds are calm
