Rain on snow

Went for what ended up being a short walk into the Flathead Range. We were hoping to catch a lap of corn skiing before surfaces became too soft. A lack of an overnight refreeze and rain kept us from venturing too far into the drainage we chose due to the amount of overhead hazard.

• Low elevations were mostly unsupportable. 
• We observed a dozen small wet loose avalanches out of south facing and north facing terrain. The avalanches we observed on north facing slopes were more recent. Potentially last 24 hours.
• There was no sign of any cornice failures.
• Two periods of rain. One on our walk in at around 1100 and one on our drive out at around 1430. Uncertain where the rain line was.
