Race to beat the heat

Early morning tour in the Northern Flathead Range.

• Moderate refreeze last night was quicker to break down under today's rising temps than yesterday's better refreeze 
• Corn O'clock on east aspects was shortlived, around 10:30.  By 11:00, we triggered some rollerballs and sensed conditions were changing quickly.  Adios.  Back to the car by 11:30 with no other signs of instability. Except was that Dundas working on his tan across the drainage? Danger danger.  We expect the avalanche danger continued to rise throughout the day.  
• Recent avalanche activity in DeerLick and Moccasin Creek basins include a D2 cornice fall, a handful of D1-1.5 wet loose, and a few soft slabs, D1.5-D2 triggered by wet loose, all on sunny aspects.
