Approximately 2 inches of light snow on a hard layer at 3,200 feet with no drifting. Wind impacts increased quickly with elevation, including isolated pillows of drifted snow, interspersed with hard surfaces blown clear of new snow. Some of these drifted patches produced whumphing. We avoided large areas of drifted snow and steep terrain. Snow at the ridge was either blown clear to a hard layer, or wind compacted into squeaky windrows. We shredded some sick dust-on-crust back down with no evidence of instability.
