surfed the creamy dense pow of the recent storm. found interesting conditions during our tour.
-from camp misery to the notch the upside dense snow had a quick sand esque feel as we broke trail -increasing amount of surface wind effect to wind boarding as we crested the notch. hand pit found 12-16" that broke easily and cleanly on the rain crust, however no cracking, collapsing or otherwise when skinning or when we skied back on our aspect (west aspect between 6-7k') -skied mostly sub alpine east facing aspects, once below ridge the wind effect went away and while skinning and skiing we stayed in the upper 4-6" -dug one pit at 6600', ENE aspect. HS 220 cm (!). 55 cm of dense new snow on wafer thin rain crust. no propagation in ECT. i believe the old persistent layer is now 115 cm deep -skied up to 35 degrees without any signs of instability -mild to moderate winds with gusts, moving snow around all day but suprisingly good vis.
