Toured up Sub-Shields today in Southern Glacier Park.
Weather:
Skies: Partly Sunny turning Mostly Cloudy
Temperature: Below Freezing
Winds: Light and Variable, Gusting to 20mph from SW
Dug a full profile on an ENE aspect @ 6800'; depth of snow in this location was 155cm; wind slabs were present at ridgeline (20-30cm thick), reactive to ski cuts, but leeward, sheltered aspects remained unscathed; conducted two ECT's;
ECTP 22 @ 120cm from surface (Thanksgiving Crust)
ECTP 28 @ 120 cm from surface (Thanksgiving Crust)
Elevations above 7000ft were experiencing moderate winds and significant snow transport (see photo)
