Mt. Furlong

Big thanks to those that submitted obs over the past day.  Helped out in narrowing down locations to go for a tour.

• Spent the day skiing north, east and south aspect off of Mt. Furlong.
• The warm front from Saturday night had minimal influence.  We found a 1/32" crust on all aspects, that didn't noticeably affect the skiing.  
• Previous wind events had created some hard slabs along the ridgle lines and some soft slab properties that were buried a bit below the surface at all elevations.
• Valley inversions were noticable, with temps in the high 20's in the upper elevations.  Hiking in single laryers.
• Westerly winds were light for the most part of the day, becoming moderate in the late afternoon.  Snow transport was visible on neighboring ridgelines to the south west.
• High cloud cover kept the solar warming to a minimum, but by the end of the day it was enough to create 1" crust on southerly and westerly aspects at all elevations.
• Ski quality was good.  We skied a variety of terrain, up to 40* with no signs of any snow instabilities.
• Snowpack depth varied from 5'-7'.  We did find several shallow areas that were 1-2', where the top ??"  of the snow pack overlaid a layer of facets on the ground.  Mostly in obvious start zones and in exposed rocky areas. We did notice that several steep slopes on adjacent ridge lines and peaks had avalanched to the ground.  
• We found some small 1/8" developing surface hoar in some areas.  This seemed to be in a specific elevation band around 6500' +/-
