Toured up Mount Brown via summer trail. Sunny with light ridgetop winds.
Low elevation open south facing slopes were affected by yesterday's sun. Was not widespread in shade of burned trees; did not take note of elevation line for crust. Skin track below lookout was drifted and filled in, though snow surface mostly remained lightly wind-affected powder. WSW aspect treed slopes above lookout / below Mount Brown proper were still holding good powder conditions.
Kicked off (intentionally) a NW aspect soft slab (1' deep x 50' wide) while poking around on ridgeline before dropping South. Interestingly, the slab was uniform with a very planar bed surface - not a wind slab but more likely storm slab on frost hoar layer?
SE bowl provided stable turns with much more wind affect. We did not elect to continue below 7000', backtracking to the ridgeline to seek out northerly aspect skiing below lookout back to valley. Minor sloughing, but no cracking or other instabilities noted (neither while skiing nor with several hand shears)
