Went looking for fun and safe steep skiing and found it between 7200 and 6400 ft in a 40-45 degree NE facing chute. The 1/13 rain event was not evident beyond the apron which appeared to have slid mid storm (snowed over crown lines and 20-30cm of dense but soft surface snow). The chute itself had 30-40cm of dense powder above a knife hard crust from way back when. (Solid interface) We felt safe climbing and skiing the line due to the convex nature of the terrain (see photo) and the tendency of steep chutes to constantly shed snow throughout storm cycles. We also climbed and skied a SE facing chute at similar altitude that was a terrible mix of sun crust and thin wind board. Definitely unlikely to slide but also difficult skiing! Lots of surface hoar everywhere, although flurries throughout the day was starting to cover the facets.
