We enjoyed a beautiful (relatively) warm day touring in the middle fork. Temps were approximately 10 degrees in the middle of the day, a nice reprieve from the Arctic. We experienced intermittent snowfall throughout the day, but only accumulated a trace back at the vehicle. As we gained elevation, we did a few hand pits and noticed about 6-8" of freshies on top of more dense snow. As we climbed between 6200 and 6800, we noticed wind loading on NW slopes and convexities. The turns were deep and plentiful. We managed our sluff on steeper slopes and observed cracking in wind slabs we skinned through. Overall a wonderful day skiing with buddies.
