Middle Fork Roller Balls

Toured to a 5800 foot saddle in the middle fork today.

• We observed many recent wet slide debris piles from SE aspects, point releases and large roller balls kicked off with the sun cresting the ridgelines
• Travel conditions went from crust - graupel on crust - soft in the morning. By 11 am 10 cm of fresh snow was heavily sun affected at our high point. Fresh snow on NE shaded aspects was cohesive enough to form roller balls without significant solar input.
• No obvious signs of instability from the persistant slab were observed
• Pit at 5800 ft on NE aspect resulted in a ECTN26 37cm below snow surface on an old storm interface

We found safe creamy riding on <30 degree NE slopes.
