Low elevation storm slabs

I went for a short afternoon walk to enjoy the breakable crust and take a look at an area I had yet to visit this season.

• I noted a half dozen natural storm slab avalanches at 3600 feet.
• Slabs were thin and varied from 6 - 12 inches thick and were only D1 in size.
• The snowpack at 3600 feet varied from 42 - 48 inches deep.
• I had a view of an open basin but did not see any crowns or debris piles of note. However, I could not see all the avalanche paths from this vantage point.
• The surface rain crust caps a thick layer of last week's lovely powder.
