Today we accessed the Northern Whitefish range from the East. Our objective was to search for the surface hoar and persistent slab instabilities that were recently encountered on the Westside of the range. We found:
With the information that was given to us, we felt comfortable skiing a south face at upper elevations up to 38 degrees in steepness.
We ascended North, South and East aspects from 4,600 ft to 6,700 ft. We skied SE aspects with a slope of 36-38 degrees. The Christmas Eve Crust made the descent hard and slick below 6,000 ft.
