Improving stability in Rescue Cr

Toured into Rescue Creek to assess the damage from the avalanche cycle earlier this week and look for signs of instability.

• We came across over 10 debris piles that were D1.5 to D2.5, some snapped small trees.  Crowns were mostly filled in by recent wind drifting.
• The snowpack was quieter than in previous days, but we still noted several collapses and shooting cracks.  These were in wind drifted gullies and near ridgelines at mid elevations. We didn't travel higher than 6,400'
• Test results showed a mix of propagating and non-propagating failures at the storm interface (12/9 SH or FC down 30 cm) or Thanksgiving surface hoar layer (down 50 cm).
• Mild temps, thin scattered clouds, and light wind drifting on high peaks.
• The snow surface was too wind affected for any solar-triggered loose snow concerns here.  Low elevations still too brushy for avalanche concerns.
