Skied the western ridge of the bowl off Ghoulie peak. Found a firm ~1.5in thick wind and sun affected layer on south facing aspects. Snow pit showed a CT2 on this top layer and CT22 (non planar) on a rime layer approximately 30cm below the surface. Extended column test then produced no conclusive results. Skied slopes up to 35 degrees and observed no signs of instability. Better snow was found on treed and sheltered west facing aspects. We expect this firm south-facing top layer to become an issue when loaded with snow.
