Going-to-the-Sun Road obs

Last evening's snowfall with the addition of today's until 1230 totaled 10" at 5100'. Right-side up snowfall that was well-bonded to rain crust underlying it, though this crust remained moist below 5400' and was mostly refrozen above that elevation. We observed small D .5 dry loose avalanches in steep, rocky areas. We were able to trigger D1 avalanches while skiing within the new snowfall atop the rain crust, particularly as the new snow further set into a storm slab. The upper elevations above 7000' likely hold sensitive wind slabs given the rain crust, moderate winds, and lower density snowfall.
