Skied to 6,200ft on the main Elk ridge. Little snow in the lower woods so messy travel. It was windy at the outset with a lot of variability and swirling. Snow was streaming off the ridges and blowing out of the trees. About 1130 the storm really kicked in with heavy snow and increased wind, now out of the SW. The wind actually blew my hood off at one point. It was difficult to assess the amount of snow because the wind was moving it so vigorously. There were no audible alarms when we were climbing or skiing. The new snow was on a supportable crust which stiffened as the day went on due to a falling temperature. At about 130pm the tempest settled down and there were even sun spots. It did not snow on the return trip on Hwy 2.
