Dry snow to the left of me, corn snow to the right

FAC hadn't received any data from the headwaters of particular scenic drainage in the Middle Fork this season, so that's where we went.

• Above 5400 feet, we found two to four inches of dry snow on shaded aspects sheltered from the wind. 
• The down-valley winds had left a crusty one to two-inch wind board on exposed north and east aspects.
• Rollerballs were the only evidence of recent wet loose activity with no recent cornice failure noted.
• Faceted snow above the January 13 crust was found nearly five feet below the surface at a pit on an east aspect at 6500 feet. This weak layer was small-grained (0.5 mm) and rounding. 
• We found large debris piles from the January 13 weather event throughout the drainage, along with modest amounts of debris from more recent avalanche events.
