You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows

Drove from Columbia Falls to Marias Pass noting the aftereffects of the most recent NE wind event.

Scoured areas included:

• Large portions of the western side of the Swan Range from the valley floor to near ridgeline elevations.
• Low-elevation locations on the east side of the Apgars and around Lake McDonald.   
• Low-elevation slopes in Belton Canyon that were facing upriver.
• Low-elevation terrain on the north-east (windward) side of the Flathead Range facing either upriver or east.
• All elevations in John F. Stevens Canyon which had an eastern exposure.

We noted light to moderate wind transport occurring in numerous areas at low elevations and at isolated upper elevation locations in John F. Stevens Canyon and the Flathead Range.
