Large crown on face below the southern ridge of the Great Northern. The slide looked to have slid a a day or a couple days before. The crown was in the southernmost bowl around the Great Northern.
Forecaster note: Aspect and elevation similar to other very large natural wet slabs that released 3/27 and 3/28 in the same region. See avalanche tab for more details.
Crown noted 4/2. Appeared 1-2 days old. Date estimated as 3/28 based on other very large natural avalanches that released about that time. Avalanche type unknown. Probably a wet slab, given aspect, elevation, and other activity in the region. Crown ran under very steep, rocky terrain ~7350' to ~8000' with SW-W-NW aspects. Crown appeared several feet deep, possibly early March persistent weak layer. Debris did not run that far due to terrain flattening at base of bowl.
