Toured into the Apgars today to enjoy the recent snow and solitude.
 

• 3-4 inches of new low density snow fell overnight
• Cloudy (7/8-8/8) and Calm most of the day. Around 3:30pm, the wind picked up to a cool 5-10mph out of the SW.
• Very lightly snowing almost all day. estimated 0.5-1 inch accumulation
• Dug a pit at 6070' on SSE facing and found a shallow snowpack with good stability. Snow depth 45-67cm, (refer to pit graph for stability tests). I suspect that this slope took a beating from the strong southern winds from this past Saturday (12/11), leaving behind a shallow, scoured slope.
• A bit of scattered probing below 6000' suggest that southernlies open to the sky do not harbor "BD4 Crusts" (hard crusty basal snowpack prior to December 4th) below about 5600'.
• Was suprised to observe some signs of recent loose wet activity between 4800-5200. Came upon dozens of slopes along the trail that had recently been littered with quite a bit of pinwheels and roller balls. I suspect that this activity occurred mid day on 12-14-21.
• Late in the afternoon, I discovered that snowshoes can make whoopdees on skin tracks...
