Classic Flathead!

Toured to Nyack Mtn via Crystal Creek, descended into Tiger Creek, to Penrose-Nyack col, exited via Rescue.
 

• Weather:
  Skies: Mostly sunny
  Temperature: Below Freezing above 6000'
  Wind: West/Southwest 10-20mph, gusting to 30mph above 6000'
• Solar prone aspects below 6000':
  -wet, loose
  -rollerball
• Aspects above 6000':
  -sustained winds from the West kept snow surface cool throughout our tour. 
  -active windloading occuring in the higher terrain, although minimal (see photo). Wind pillows on scoured aspects (W/S) harbored reactive, sensitive windslabs (30cm) confined to small pockets (underneath sastrugi was faceted, sugar like snow).
  -leeward aspects (N/E) kept cool and skied well. crossloaded terrain was avoided as windslabs were obvious. 
  -in the PM hours, solar radiation really ramped up which put a nice suncrust on most aspects beneath 6000'.
• Observed a few older crowns and one active glide crack in the Crystal Creek drainage (S aspect), see photo
• Also watched a desk sized chunk of cornice break from ridgline, minor sluffing occured. Very large cornices present (see photo)
