Toured up to the snow study plot to generate another time series profile and make a few non-crunchy turns.
Clear evidence of rain below 4500'. Surface pummeled, pocked, and actually stained with dissolved tree goo fallilng from above.
Rapid improvement above 4500' with 12 to 15cm of pleasant (F)ist hard snow above a supportive crust. Hand shear tests along the way showed that the new snow was poorly bonded to the crust.
Above 5400' and on W to SW aspects the new snow easily cracked and slid away from the skin track. Sliding surface looked to be buried surface hoar (more in snowpack tab)
