The clear precip on the drive out and in the parking lot wasn't enticing, but that's what freezing lines are for. We crossed that around 5kft. Strong W and SW winds on the ridgetops were evident all day; occasionally they made their way to lower elevations. More open areas had some light wind affect, but consolidated wind slabs were not to to be found anywhere we traveled on Repeater Ridge. Our pit results from 6400ft on a SE aspect showed 135cm total depth, with 40cm of recent snow atop the crusts/facet interface. Low quality shears were observed in tests, but no propagation. No shooting cracks were seen during the day, but we did stay off loaded convexities.
Across the lake, on the north face of Essex Mountain in the apron below the chutes, we saw a significant crown. Hard to tell how old; seemed deeper than a foot and D2 in size.
Timing estimated.
