New snow and soft storm slabs

Toured into GNP and had an inter-agency field day with the GTSR avalanche crew.

• Found approx. 12" of new snow that fell in the prior 24 hours above 5500'
• We observed the new snow sitting on a stout rain crust at mid elevations and breakable melt-freeze crust at upper elevations
• Lower elevations had approx. 1-3" of wet new snow
• No signs of instability while skinning uphill through steeper terrain
• ECTs produced non-propagating results
• We skier triggered a couple 12" storm slabs (D1.5) above 5500' on steep, convex slopes while skiing
  • Storm slabs ran on buried crusts
  • Lower angled slopes (less than 35 degrees) produced only minor sluffing while skiing
• Winds remained calm with occasional moderate gusts above 6000'
