Smaller storm totals in GNP

We found smaller storm totals, no sign of windslab formation, and a generally stable snowpack above McDonald Creek

• 6" to 10" of storm snow since April 1 above 5,500 ft. The snow has moistened on southerly aspects and is still fairly incohesive on northerlies. In previously drifted areas (from SW'ly winds), the snow is up to 15" deep.
• Moderate to strong valley winds but calm winds near ridgetop. No signs of fresh wind transport or wind slab formation
• Test results and ski cuts suggest the storm snow is unreactive over the most recent rain crust.  We triggered shallow sluffing in steep terrain.
• 1" of new snow today and very light snowfall throughout the day.
