Lots of snow in Canyon Creek

Quick p.m. ride showed impressive 24-hour storm totals and equally impressive lack of instabilities. We eased into relatively small avalanche terrain after testing the waters.

• 10" to 15" of moderately dense new snow above 4,000'.  
• Minor cracking and some shallow natural sluffs. Hand pits and sidehilling across small but steep slopes didn't produce any results
• We didn't travel above 5,800', but we could see/hear the wind blowing at higher elevations.
