Patrolling the border for avalanche activity

Rode into the Northern Whitefish Range to fill some data gaps and let the storm rage to our south.

• This area saw significantly less precip than other parts of the forecast area. Rain up to ~6200’ saturated the upper few inches of snow and caused lots of roller balls and pinwheels but minimal wet loose avalanches. The arctic blast arrived around noon and quickly put a crusty lid on any wet avalanche concerns.
• Pit showed several weak interfaces in the upper 2 ft but they weren’t propagating in tests. No slab avalanche activity observed here.
• Light to moderate graupel following the cold front with some gusty winds. Minimal accumulations by 2 p.m.
